KANTHA, WEAVING OUR STORIES TOGETHER

RMIT University, Melbourne, Vic

Kantha is the traditional hand-stitched, embroidered 'Quilt' of the subcontinent, especially in undivided Bengal (Bangladesh & West Bengal). It is generally made from recycled Saree’s (women's traditional attire). It’s a ritual that’s hundreds of years old. At RMIT University in Melbourne, Mita invited everyone to add their stitch. Students and staff joined Mita for a cup of tea, a chat and a stitch.
